Right now, we are making a hospitality series to cater for the industry's demand for Chinese language training as an effect of increasing number of Chinese tourists.

August 4, 2011 at 9:37 AMUsually you start with translation 笔译/bǐyì and work your way up to interpretation/口译/kǒuyì. Although they require slightly different skill sets, translation builds a solid foundation for interpretation. But I have never had the chance to do simultaneous interpretation. It's the pinnacle of the trade. Top simultaneous interpreters in Shanghai are paid USD200-300 per hour.
