The balance of domestic power,.. Eric, Our magnificent dialogue actors are all stars in their own right. Besides lending their theatrical talent, they also shoulder other crucial duties at cpod. So special thanks to everyone who sends in huge amounts of chocolates for all of us to indulge in. (and a subtle hint to those who havn't).

henning, 广大 describes large quantity. It is often used to describe a lot of people. to? It modifies 汽车爱好者. There are surely a lot of them. Jack, The subway annoucements (or almost any public annoucements) are made in Mandarin only. The Shanghai subway system is incredibly extensive and efficient (and doesn't smell).

Hey, we all construct our own reality. It's love love chinesepod for me. your grace is enough, Certainly a good topic. Will take it on board. Speaking of which, my surname was abused through kindergarten because it has the same pronunciation as the word for pig. How time and perception have changed. Now people 'look up to' pigs as a blessed creature. Everyone wants a baby born in the year of the pig.

Double posts are fun. We are all about double buzz at chinesepod. There are several versions of the origin of 二百五。This seems to be the most 'validated' by historians (and google page rank): In the Warring State Period, a strategist to the Emperor of Qi kingdom was murdered. The Emperor thought of a scheme to catch the killer: awarding 1000 lots of silver to whomever turned himself in. Four people turned themselves in and claimed to share the money, each getting 250. But of course, they were executed before they even took a peek at the silver. The number 250 has since become a code for dumbness.

Oops, I actually thought L.L.chinesepod was 'loved love chinesepod'. Now from hindsight, should have realized this is way too cutesy for TsinPing to adopt.

Jurian, Yes, you are right. 叽里咕噜 would best be translated as the movie lingo 'indistinct chattering'. The Saturday Show will be on chinesepod-extra. 大家明天见!

Steve, There is subtle distinction. 在这里zai4 zhe4 li3 means in here, thus puts the focus on physical location and existence. It is most commonly used when replying to someone locating you or checking your presence, e.g. calling the roll.

The way Aric puts it: 'V3 is like a Mac-- takes some time to figure out, but then you'll fall in love with it.' While I love Mac simply because it looks darn pretty without even trying to use it, I've been biting into V3 and can attest to the fact that it is only deceptively difficult. In other words, actually very easy to use. Now I look at it, tech issues aside, what's causing the initial resistance reaffirms our attachment to V2, our home we've come to dearly love and relate to. But websites grow and come of age as human beings do. The first week seems the equivalent of first week in a new junior high for V3. The incredibly awkward stage. But then, it shall grow, thrive and prevail with your nurture and support. 加油加油!谢谢大家的支持!
