May 26, 2007 at 12:30 PMLostinAsia, So you experienced what they call a 'natural high'. What an achievement! You also brought up a great point of testing your level---- by going back to lessons which you found challenging, especially the banter. Intermediate and above are superb for that. Having said so, for me a walk down the memory lane is like looking at your old pictures where you want to destroy all the evidence of fashion mistakes and baby fat. I cringe every time I listen to the early podcasts for my utter amateurism. But then, it makes me appreciate how far we've come as a team.

May 26, 2007 at 7:23 AMsanri, Yes, you are correct. 上一站/shang4 yi1 zhan4 means 'last stop'. 上means 'last time' or' the last one'. Therefore, 2 stops back is 上两站/shang4 liang3 zhan4. 下/xia4 means 'the next'. So, 2 stops ahead will be 下两站。You can substitute any number in the middle.

May 26, 2007 at 7:15 AMA huge welcome to new poddies. It's wonderful to see comments on such an early lesson. This one is like dinosaur in cpod time. Hawkaye007, The difference between Mainland and Taiwan Mandarin is complex. Besides writing, the respective standard speech sounds quite different to a more seasoned ear. I'd say that the standard Taiwan speech sounds a bit more rounded and 'cutsy'' than the Mainland. But this is just the crudest comparison. I wish I could express it with more clarity... Anyone?

May 25, 2007 at 4:13 PMFor me, the fun lies in studying the stock and company. Once I buy it, the fun stops. Emotional tormenting kicks in.

May 23, 2007 at 2:01 PMBazza, USB is U盘/(note, 'U' actually sounds like 'you1' here)./you1 pan2. Franch, 保存 bǎo cún means to 'save'. 另存 líng cún is means 'save alternatively as'.

Not only have you taught us the language, but also how to be a good patient. Our best to all the lovely family memebrs shown. P.S. Your background music (is it the theme from 'Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon' is way better than ours.
