Screeching sound可以说“刺耳”。这个“刺”字很生动，形容刺激、让人难受的感觉。还有“刺眼”（比如很亮的灯光）、“刺鼻”（臭味儿）。Naturally curious 可以说“天生好奇”。我觉得其中一个原因是我们喜欢凑热闹。比如有人吵架，一定会有一堆人围观。我自己也有点儿这样。

Come to think of it, we actually have quite a lot of public holidays in China. There are 2 one-week holidays, and a bunch of long weekends. Maybe we'll have even more now that driving domestic spending has become an economic priority for the government.
