I said 苍蝇人/cang1 ying2 ren. 苍蝇 is 'fly'. 苍蝇人 is half fly, half human. Is that what the film 'the Fly' is about?

I have seen people whose otherwise good relationships end over this issue, because they can't afford an apartment. And it is just not realistic for young people to afford an apartment nowadays. So parents usually need to chip in. Some even contribute their life saving.

As long as you reject it politely, it is alright. But there is some subtlety involved. We often state the reason for turning down an offer is because we don't want to trouble the host or that we are not thirsty/hungry. In other words, to make sure you clearly express that it has nothing to do with what they are offering you. But in fact, it might well be you don't really fancy what's offered by the host.

May 27, 2009 at 1:57 AMI have never bought loose tea leaf myself until fairly recently. So I was shocked to see some teas priced at RMB 500 per half kilo (and that's just an average price). And then I was told 0.1 kilo would last me quite a while.
