@putao,

I said 苍蝇人/cang1 ying2 ren. 苍蝇 is 'fly'. 苍蝇人 is half fly, half human. Is that what the film 'the Fly' is about?

同学们,下周还有一集,更多的播客语言。

@timslsm, 除了"接下来”,我的口头禅(pet phrase) 还有 “没错”。老实说,我希望少说。听多了,比较烦/annoying.

Buying an apartment before marriage is a huge deal and almost compulsory in China. I have seen people whose otherwise good relationships end over this issue, because they can't afford an apartment. And it is just not realistic for young people to afford an apartment nowadays. So parents usually need to chip in. Some even contribute their life saving.

@sfrrr,

As long as you reject it politely, it is alright. But there is some subtlety involved. We often state the reason for turning down an offer is because we don't want to trouble the host or that we are not thirsty/hungry. In other words, to make sure you clearly express that it has nothing to do with what they are offering you. But in fact, it might well be you don't really fancy what's offered by the host.

I like 大红袍 too. It is a kind of oolong tea. The name literally means 'big red robe'. Teas have the most mesmerizing and beguiling names, no?

My favorite is the simple 馕/nang2, the baked flat bread that's so wonderful even by itself.

I have never bought loose tea leaf myself until fairly recently. So I was shocked to see some teas priced at RMB 500 per half kilo (and that's just an average price). And then I was told 0.1 kilo would last me quite a while.

shenyajin说得对。我认识的成都朋友心态都很悠闲。就算现在在上海工作,他们也是提倡“缓拍生活”,( 缓慢节拍)。很可爱噢。
