Changye,

Welcome back! Looking forward to your ever witty and informative comments.

@Mikeinewshot,

 Yes, foreigners can buy property in China. But only one apartment or house.

mikeinewshot,

You are not grumpy. They are good points. I am sure we could do more of indepth explanation and more examples, but it is a balancing act. When I listened back to this podcast, I feel we covered key grounds rather than just giving a vocab list. This is a key focus of the prep between John and myself. We define new words and patterns that need to be treated and work out on how to do it in a way that help listeners retain and grasp the usage. Speaking of giving more examples, we do it with key patterns and words that are more challenging. But we also don't want to stuff the podcast with excessive examples. This is where supplementary sentences come in. This is my take. But I'd also like to hear more of your thoughts.

Yes, in 飞广州, 飞 is used as a transitive verb. 到 is often left out in this context. Something we should have explained in the podcast.

'Delegate' is a tricky word to translate. You could use '委托'/wei3 tuo1 or '布置工作'/bu4 zhi4 gong1 zuo4, but none of them really conveys the meaning of the contemporary usage.

Thank you for the feedback guys.

@Mikenotinjubei, in fact I havn't  heard of 'Who's on First'. Thanks for the link. Good source of inspiration indeed.

@ncmuck,

Thank you for the very thoughtful comment. SpanishPod certainly balances learning and fun very well. Good for Cpod to take inspiration. And we have the teacher in house.

Although not much drama, this is a very practical lesson. I have been thinking about how we can make this kind of dialogues fun yet realistic. Any ideas guys?

Some《赤壁》fans here. How did you feel about the use of contemporary youth language in the film? 诸葛亮 said something like “什么都会一点儿,兴趣多一点儿,生活就精彩一点儿。”

A simple question started a fascinating discussion. I didn't even ask Pete or Matt why they started to learn Chinese. And from their and your answers, I feel like I know you guys better.

@heruilin,

妻子 (qi1 zi) and 老婆 (lao3 po) both mean 'wife'. But 妻子is the formal term while 老婆 is colloquial.
