Yes, 在一起 is a collocation that means 'being together.' 在 is a verb meaning 'to be'.For example, 你们在一起多久了?/How long have you been together? (as in dating).

I just listened to the lesson and that sound was wild. I don't know what it is but I can assure you there was no parrot in the studio. Must be a spontaneous sound from outside. Let me see if we can cut that out. Thanks!
