You are correct. 上千块 means 'can reach up to 1000'. But in daily speech, people interpret 上 to mean in the vincinity of 1000. It could be either slightly less or more than 1000. You could also switch 千 with other amounts as long as it is over 100.

I wouldn't say "你懂什么？" is a speech pattern particular to Shanghai. It reflects more attitude than regional speech prefrence. It is definitely a great phrase to use when you want to be dismissive.

Yes, a good word. 温/wen1/warm is used for things that you taste and touch. For example, food, water. Note that you can't use it to describe the climate. Warm as in spring is 温暖/wen2 nuan3.

弄热 is a very colloquial expression. It sounds a it unnatural too. It is better to use 加热 in the case of to heat up. You can also use 热 as a verb, e.g. 热一下/make it hot to mean the same thing.

There is not a clear fixed word for 'stereoype'. You can say 偏见的形象/an image based on prejudice or 模式化的形象/ a fixed stereotypical image.

May 20, 2009 at 6:33 AM真的有罗布泊，在新疆。不过，应该不适合旅游吧。昨天看新闻，有一个人登珠穆朗玛峰 （Mount Everest)。他不是专业登山队员，只接受了一个月的魔鬼训练。虽然成功登珠峰，但是下山的时候身体发生严重的问题，去世了。民间探险，虽然勇敢，但更多的是危险。
