April 14, 2010 at 9:25 PMTomatoes are part of the nightshade family, so when they were introduced to Europe people wouldn't eat them because they thought tomatoes were poisonous.
Functionally, a tomato is a veggie. I don't know of anyone making tomato jam or jelly.
