Is there a difference between "太太" and "老婆"? Is one prefered?

Just curious.

I used that same site and got "白教明".

Not sure if it's good or not.

The eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium) survived until the middle of the 15th cent because it was more developed, had more people, had the money and trade links(to the east), and it was easier to defend from the "barbarians" moving in from the east: The western Roman Empire was less developed, had fewer people, less money, fewer trade links and was open to invasion from the east, as far as diversity is concerned, the eastern empire was much more diverse and cosmopolitan than the western empire.

There was some fairly extensive trade links between Rome, India and the Han Empire. The demand for chinese silk in the empire as so great that there was concern in the roman senate that to much silver was going to China. The arguments and complaints would sound familiar today.

If you're into historical irony, the last Byzantine emperor was named Constantine XI.
