Speaking of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, his name in 漢字 is written as: 孫逸仙(in Jyutping: Syun Jat-sien) or 孫中山(in Jyutping: Syun Zung-saan). Which one is his birthname?

I love hearing the Taiwanese whenever they speak Mandarin!:)

  1. Usually from what I've noticed, they interchange some R-initials as L-initials.

        e.g.

         漢字:讓我們歡迎MR. PIG.

通常發音:rang wo men huan ying Mr. Pig!

台灣發音: lang wo men haan ying Mr. Pig!

   2. They pronounce "zh,ch&sh" as "z,c,s" to the point that there is no such thing as ㄓ,ㄔ&ㄕ.

         漢語:帥哥!的嗎? 妳是誰? 春天.

通常發音: shuai ge! zhen de ma? ni shi shei? chun tian?

台灣發音: sai ge! zen de ma? ni si sei?

    3. They pronounce -ia- (as in tian: 甜) as -e- (BoPoMoFo as in: Elephant; not the one  (個;ge).

         漢語:一天到睡覺。那麼嚴重嗎?

通常發音: yi tian dao wan shui jiao. Na me yan zhong ma?

台灣發音: yi ten( as in 10) dao wan swei/sei jiao. Na ma en zong maa?

These are one of the reasons why I like hearing them speak...:)

Did I miss anything regarding the Taiwanese accent?

If 氧 is Oxygen and 二氧化碳= (2 Oxygen molecules that are "carbonized“)= CO2,then what is NaCl (table salt)=鹽 or 鈉氯?

Also, how do you say  CH3COOH(Acetic acid)?

I've also noticed in the Chinese Table of elements that METALs have  金radicals and gases have  气 radicals. How is the element group with the 石 radicals called?
