December 23, 2007 at 2:54 PMWow! another interjection to add to my vocabulary (嘻嘻 xi1xi1 teehee)... every lesson seems to add a new one which is most appreciated. In casually perusing one of the on-line dictionaries, there seems to a large number of them, seemingly all composed of the 口 子 旁 （kou zi pang） radical and another fairly common character. What are some of your favorite interjections? On a somewhat related note, for any of the late Don Martin Mad magazine cartoonist fans out there he was a genius at creating (albeit not interjections) sound effects: Glup! Splork! Chomple! Kloong! Kaplam! Poong! Fladdap! It would be interesting to know if any of these where translated into Putonghua. 再见， 何睿林

December 18, 2007 at 3:11 AMJenny and Ken rock! I adore these newbie lessons ... although mainly focused on intermediate lessons now, I would never miss one of these gems. In this lesson I really appreciate the origin/explanation of 大的 (da3 di1). Its strange to see the grammatical particle 的 (de) with a new pronunciation and meaning. Similarly, seeing 的确 (di2 que4 certainly) in a sentence threw me off for the longest time. 再见， 何睿林

December 14, 2007 at 4:09 PMJust looked up the characters for double eyelid surgery: 割双眼皮 ge1 shuang1 yan3 pi2 I guess if Westerners can have tummy tucks and get botox-ed, its not longer so strange to learn about a little eyelid surgery. Hey I guess I'm a "大鼻子” （da4 bi3 zi), but I'm still not convinced that its good thing. 再见， 和睿林

December 13, 2007 at 9:08 PM哇! 这么好的课程! Wa1, zhe4 me hao3 de ke4 cheng2 (Wow! Such a great lesson!) I especially loved the way the female dialog performer say "Boss, you have a phone call." because what I think she is really saying via her intonation on top the normal tones is "Hey Boss!, answer up your darn phone cell already ... its driving me freak'n crazy!" Maybe its just me, but I am in office where this happens all the time and some of the ring tones go well beyond annoying. 再见， 和睿林
