Knowing about my tea consumption, my mother in law once sent me some green tea (西湖龙井， xīhú lóngjǐng) for my birthday. It never arrived.

And be warned about sending trousers or other clothes by mail: My collegue did that, but the German customs called him in and demanded to see all receipts (the irony: the clothes were originally brought in Germany).

So, well, you might send the package as in the dialogue, but don't include the tea, the clothes, or the pants. :P

I also love the expansion sentence with the sea monster - 水怪 is definately good piece of vocab (well, when you are dealing with 5 year old kids).

for "I am going to sleep" you have 2 variants:

我去睡觉 is more written language, the colloquial variant is

我睡觉去

我睡觉 could be an answer to a question of the sort "What are you doing?" (I am sleeping).

You can say 我睡觉了 to express that you have fallen asleep.

Question on the Expansion:

I am not sure if I parse that one correct:

看你平时和女孩子套近乎挺活泼的，怎么现在这么害羞？

Is 套近乎 a verb that is modified with 挺活泼的 ("he is always nice towards girls in a vivid way")? From the intonation it almost seems this is more an enumeration (套近乎 + 挺活泼的).
