Auntie68, GermanPod will be in a good hand, also: Ken speeks German fluently, albeit with a notable Bavarian accent. He lived there for several years.

Nowadays I use Skype because it is the most comfortable option. But we also used a lot of call-by-call and prepaid-card services. Usually it is about 1-2 cents a minute from Germany, lowest was 0 cents (exactly, a promotion which lasted for a month).

Agree with LostInAsia. Hearing - fine. Producing, no chance. And unlike the 把-construction you are not dealing with one fixed form but a zoo of different options (出来, 起来, 带来, 过去, 。。。). Usually the one I select turns out to be the wrong one.

When we registered a day (!) too late one year we had to hand in a written "homework" on how to register correctly (2 pages) - as a punishment. Exactly, like in school. My wife was steaming.

I am talking about those gatekeeping girls at CPod who are preparing the lesson content. From all I read or heard so far here they are not particulary fond of SciFi. The general gender-issue is a different matter and I hope the current uneven demographics change.

[amazed, utterly excited & blinded by the light] You can??? But that raises a technical question: How do you smuggle such topics passed the girls?

In this love-lesson the only new piece of vocab for me was "自虐狂". Nevertheless the dialogue required considerable amounts of concentration to follow because it was dominated by huge-impact -word-order-details. "All You Can Eat and Drink" was one of the lessons where I heavily relied on Wikipedia. Never heard "mixed sashimi", "udon noodle" or "miso soup" before. I tend to agree with Dave, this love/romance subject has been covered here rather extensively. At least in comparison to the more science or SciFi oriented lessons (hint, hint!!). lydia, be aware. There can be highly romantic BDSM stories. Ever saw this movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0274812/ ?

Thanks, and sorry for the whining. ;) Yes, I found that one especially tough, too. But I needed to bring exactly that semantic across as it represents the only true answer to your question. So: Your own fault :P
