Sophie, we learn all about condoms in school (where to buy them, aspects of quality, usage) when we are about the age of 15 or 16. It is part of the regular curriculum. Too important to be a 敏感-topic. I found that in China (brand) condoms have become much more easily available over the last years. Now you get them in your regular supermarket. No need to go to the pharmacy anymore.

CPod Academic Team, this gets creepy. Yesterday evening a collegue and I decided to have a pizza. The place was overcrowded so we continued to a Mexican bar. No seats for us there either. We eventually ended up in a (fairly authentic) Chinese restaurant. But when paying the bill, we didn't get the usual free liqueur but instead...yes, exactly. My very first. This is not the first time that this type of CPod-prophesy-stuff happens. At least I haven't given up that beauty contest yet ;)

First time I hear about this drink. My collegue brought some 奶茶 from his 蒙古-home for us but I haven't tried it yet.

This is indeed a tragedy. Certainly not the time for stupid remarks regarding CPod lesson coincidents. All in all this has so far been no good year for China. Let's hope it gets better. Especially for those who have been hit by all those natural disasters.

I have actually been asked by a customs officer once if I brought any "cheap DVDs" from China. Which I had not. I am not certain about the legal situation here, but depending on your local laws this kind of gift actually might get you in trouble... We always bring like classic Chinese art stuff as gifts (paintings, tablecloths, tea sets & the like). Much more personal than fake imitations of western products, more useful than propaganda merchandise, and no collateral damage that you might get with weapons.

Great idea for a series. And the most important show up front! @Clay: 剁椒鱼头 is indeed delicious, I love it. But it makes you lose all traces civilization - spitting, slurping, sucking, main thing getting the last bit of meat out there...

clay, but you didn't turn CPod lessons into the standard ambient music of that Chicago pub, did you?

rjberky, creepy thought. They gather around the bed of my son each evening - I pluck them away as soon as he falls asleep. But next evening they are back. Staring. They already entered my son's head. When he passed by my notebook and saw this web page he got so excited it costed me about 15 minutes more to get him to bed. They could do a horror movie with those 午夜凶福娃

David, imdb currently lists 379,871 theatrically released movies according to http://www.imdb.com/database_statistics. If you continue with one MM a week you run out of films in 7305 years and 11 weeks. Well, if no new films are released meanwhile.

auntie, I also had to ask for that one - it is 4 years. The 周 makes it more formal ("4 round years"). The 岁 always means "years old". Four weeks would be 四周了. Maybe the other language question I asked my wife is of interest for somebody else to: I wasn't sure about the complement in the dialogue line 我太太吃不来中药. The 吃不来 means "not used to" here. My wife pointed out that this is a rather southern phrase that can be replaced by 吃不习惯. Obviously two language points worth covering at an Intermediate show.
