February 1, 2011 at 8:05 AMI recently needed this type of vocab - I gave a lecture on Business Intelligence to a Chinese delegation. They translated my slides and had a translator (poor guy - that was tough stuff with tons of specialized lingo from various domains). Sometimes the translation on the slides were wrong and discussions on the correct term broke lose. 数据挖掘 was one of these cases.
BTW: That day I realized it might take another 15 years until I can do this type of stuff without translator. It is one thing to talk about how good Chinese food is and giving a lecture....

January 25, 2011 at 7:10 AMIn the expansion sentence:
靠假文凭休想蒙混过关
the position of the 休想 comes a bit surprising for me. I would have expected it to be "休想靠假文凭蒙混过关". Would that be OK, too?

January 25, 2011 at 6:06 AMHi John, hi Catherin,
I just downloaded again and it seems to be repaired now - thanks!
Weird. The problem was in a file I downloaded yesteraday at 8:36. I tried it with different players. As if it got in a meat chopper. The defect file was 15,1 MB big - compared with the corrected one which only has 10,6 MB. If you need the file for problem-tracking purposes, I can send it to you.
But anyway it is repaired now, so it's fine for me.

January 24, 2011 at 1:45 PMIn the first 8 minutes of the 18 minutes long file there is a constant switching between the vocab part and expansion sentences (usually in the middle of a sentence/word).

Posted on: Shut down by Pimples
December 31, 2010 at 2:43 PMUntil my mid-twenties I suffered from a rather severe form of acne - I got that from my father (who kept those pimples up to his mid-fourties - the typical comment being: "Oh, your puberty is over now!"!). I basically looked like a walking pizza with extra cheese. Believe me, I tried everything, nothing worked.
Then came the rescue: A medication called "Roaccutan" (engl: Accutane, chin: 罗氏 according to Wikipedia). Wild side effects and I had to check my blood every few weeks for half a year - but afterwards it was completely gone. Forever - left some isolated small zits which pop out once in a while. Of course there are some "pockmarks" left, as lncln called them, but they don't bother me.
My question: Is Accutane/Roaccutan known, available and affordable in China?
