November 14, 2010 at 8:33 AMHi Bill,
(;
This is from the chapter that introduces the basic idea of layer models and network stacks - I actually use ISO/OSI there because it is neatly clear-cut, still used on layers 1-2, and because, well, the ISO lingo still floats aorund everywhere. But of course, the major block of the basic network part is TCP/IP where I teach those business (!) students the correct given names of the header bits of the protocols you mentioned - until they develop a pathologic love/hate relationship to internet protocols.
But there are no Mandarin translation parts...yet.
P.S.: "Fachchinesisch" lit.: "professional Chinese" = a German expression denoting overblown technical jargon that is used for purposes of information hiding.

November 13, 2010 at 10:33 AMAnyone also studying some German? Here is a slide I use in a class that introduces basic network & Internet technologies and their applications (I usually don't ask for that one in the exam, though).

September 30, 2010 at 5:16 AMThere is a little problem with the Audio Review: After "National Football", "National Football" is given as the English translation for the rest of the vocab as well.

September 23, 2010 at 8:21 AMFrom the Expansion sentence
他的论文漏洞百出,居然顺利通过了,没有遭到驳斥。
I figured that 驳斥 is also used for rejection in the sense of a rejection of a paper (e.g. for a conference or a journal).
Is that correct?

August 3, 2010 at 6:35 AMHi Jenny,
is there a post-doc-thesis like we have it in Germany ("Habilitation")?

July 20, 2010 at 2:01 PMHi xiaophil.
actually, I don't beliefe it. That sort of behaviour is hard wired low-level ROM stuff - no need for academic teaching in any way. Much the opposite so: Adolescents don't need sex-ed classes because they don't know how to act. It is much rather necessary because they instinctively do.

July 1, 2010 at 5:28 AMHi xiaophil,
maybe that is because at the end of the lesson Jiaojie and David specifically asked for comments describing first-hands experience. Those frequent-flyers are busy people :)
