December 24, 2014 at 8:07 AM56 thanks for extra words! But actually I'm here to report a problem : we are promised a song at the end of the lesson, but the end comes right after the announcement! The song got lost along the way. Guess it would be good to fix that. On the Android app.

November 30, 2014 at 10:33 AMYeah the lesson audio seems to be cut off in the middle of a sentence, at least in my Android app. Haven't tried the web version yet.

October 16, 2014 at 9:45 AMMy favourite kind of lesson - explaining the nuances you won't find in a dictionary! One question though: you guys seem to pronounce the second part of 免得 and 省的 with the second tone, but my dictionary has it as neutral. Could you guys comment on that please?

October 1, 2014 at 10:30 AMI love those storyline twists in Chinesepod dialogues! It adds so much fun and the intensity of feelings makes expressions easier to remember. Thanks guys!

September 29, 2014 at 1:24 PMThat 热得快 is a bit different from what we used to have in the Soviet Union. Ours had a curve near the handle so you could hang it over the edge of your glass. Some people still carry one when they travel, because, unlike China, in that region it's not common for hotels to provide you with water boilers or hot water. I also had a huge one in India that I used for warming up a bucket of water for my shower. Too bad I still don't know a proper English name for that useful thingy.

September 29, 2014 at 1:04 PMI think Chinesepod is about spoken language first of all, and if you are really immersed in Chinese life with Chinese people you might end up talking about anything. I think this is all daily life stuff, highly useful IMHO.

September 16, 2014 at 6:29 AMI'm for spelling out pinyin for the Intermediate level, it was very helpful when I just started it and was listening without looking at the screen, like when doing something. Right now I don't really need it anymore but I'd say let's keep it for other new students.
I also think it's very important to give a few possible translations for every Chinese word. Every word has a range of meanings rather than a single one, and the extent that range overlaps with possible meanings of a corresponding English word varies a lot. And let's not forget that not all poddies are native English speakers.
Same thing for the context, I don't think there should be less of it. For instance, I've never been to a campus cafeteria where people use cards. Don't underestimate the diversity of listeners here.
