March 27, 2010 at 11:16 PMRegarding the Expansion sentence:
他是我们的好榜样,我们要向他学习。(Tā shì wŏmende hăo băngyàng, wŏmen yào xiàng tā xuéxí.) He's a good role model for us. We should follow his example.
How does 向 used here corresponds with its dictionary meaning of 'to, towards'?

March 23, 2010 at 8:52 PMIt seems some people believe I was questioning the value of this lesson. My comments refer only to these games themselves. They are huge timewasters, and its hard to challenge that. These lessons are never a waste of time.

March 23, 2010 at 1:44 AMI think there would be very few people who have the time to waste playing these games, and who have enough time leftover to learn Chinese.

March 22, 2010 at 7:30 AMRegarding the Expansion sentence:
我轻轻推了他一下,他就倒了。(Wŏ qīngqīng tuī le tà yíxià, tā jiù dăo le.) I lightly pushed him a bit, and he just fell down.
When is 倒 pronounced with the 3rd tone, and when with the 4th?
Also, should 轻轻 have a neutral 2nd syllable?

March 22, 2010 at 3:30 AMThanks again lujiaojie. I hadn't come across that interpretation of 了 before. The first 2 sentences make sense, but the last one seems to require 了 if you use that logic.
