Posted on: How to Eat a Hairy Crab

Yeah, I know this is quite the racket. They really are tasty and 我比较喜欢雌的!I love the restaurant/boats, it really looks like Las Vegas at night. Our dinner party had a contest to re-assemble the crab shell and parts after eating to see who had the most realistic looking crab. It really made me aware how inept I am at eating crabs.

Chinese breakfasts can be rough. You know you are in trouble when the most appetizing dish has the English translation "Coarse Cabbage". I can usually convince the staff to fry up a couple of eggs for me.

I have travelled on business to quite a few places in China, and I have to say, they enjoy showing you the local sights. I have got to see some things that most foreigners would never stumble across. Often they will entrust you with a subordinate, which is great, becuase sometimes it is their first time to visit these places as well. The generosity does seem too much at times, and as Jenny says, you must negotiate.

Good lesson with a lot of examples. Just for motivation, I remember my current Mandarin teacher telling me that having a clear understanding of the three de's was usually achieved by the 2nd grade. QW seems to have the most interesting and useful content lately.

You touched on many of the interesting aspects of Jing An district. One of the subway exits is home to maybe the world's shortest escalators, I think only 11-12 steps. I have to admit that I have never gone inside the temple.

Good timing for this lesson. I just ran into “两三次“ in my business Mandarin textbook. This lesson makes it crystal clear.

I always wondered if there were any special places the tourist groups go to in Shanghai that I had missed, I have lived here for 5 years and still have a lot to see. I love some of the smaller gardens and parks, and also some of the not so commercialized bird and flower markets. I remember when you could buy reasonably priced art works on Taikang Lu. Nothing beats an overpriced meal in a tall building overlooking the city center or a ride on the subway though.

I like the bei sentence structure in this case because it implies that it is not your fault that you got locked out. We should use more bei and ba sentence structures to improve our language skills.

How do you say "Master Key" ? I locked my magnetic key in my locker at the gymand was trying to explain about the master key, but the attendant did not understand me and just pried the door open.

I was amazed how much different Nanjing was compared to Shanghai. Much more "Chinese". I will always remember walking up the steps to the Mausoleum, and then up to the garden behind the Mausoleum(35 degrees C and 100% humidity of course). Very impressive scenery.
