June 13, 2010 at 6:29 PMHey RJ, well then I am perfectly satisfied with this lesson. I got the 拿...当...-pattern and I learned something about chinese culture. If this joke is cast in the standard chinese-joke-mould I simply need to learn what is funny and what is not. When I think about it, there were some chinese people writing in this forum too, stating that the werstern way of joking is hard to understand. Mutual confusion :-)

Well if I don't get the joke I learned a good pattern anyway :-) 就是"拿什么东西当什么东西".

June 12, 2010 at 9:00 PMI'm sorry everybody and Lilac especially. The best way to kill a joke is to ask someone explain it, but well, I simply just don't get it... Which part is the funny part? (I guess my lack of 明白 is related to culture rather than language in this case)

June 10, 2010 at 7:12 AMThat's interesting. It is called "håv" in swedish, and I don't think it has anything to do with the net. I think of it more like bag-on-a-stick. E.g. the things that are used to collect money in church (church collection baskets
?) are called håv as well.

June 4, 2010 at 10:01 PMJiaojie, I always forget to add 去 qu in those sentences. I would have said 把它放到桌子下 or 把它放到桌子下. Does that sound awkward? Is the 去 important?

I think it was the 糊弄 that made me miss the point. The joke would have been easier to understand without the 糊弄. And there was no "instead" neither. It turns out to be a somewhat sophisticated joke after all :-)
