Hi all,

In sweden, there are two options when paying with a card in a store: debit (bank account) or credit (bill). I guess that goes for China too.

Does anyone know the 汉字 (han4zi4) I need to know to press the right buttons?

Lately we had an upgrade from the black-tape-debit-cards to cards with a security chip. The latter is supposed to be more difficult to copy.

Are there cards with chips in China as well? Is 拉卡 la1ka3 and 刷卡 shua1ka3 still good to use for these kind of cards or would one use an other verb describing the action of inserting the card into the reader then?

Hi poddies,

Can't read hanzi? I can't. You may want to try the free popup translation tool for Mozilla firefox.

Hi shenyajin,

hypothetically yes, but that would mean I would need to interfere my two chinese friends in their work every day. They have a small restaurant at my place, and they work 7 days a week. So I go there 2 or 3 times a week to have food and a small chat. However they want to practice their swedish so we have a language struggle...

you can say "鸡爪" jīzhǎo instead

谢谢批改了

为什么学中文?

In April(?) 2008 one of my neighbors said she wanted to learn spanish.
Me: Well, then just go online and download a spanish course.
She: I'm not sure how to do that.
Me: No problem. I'll do it for you.
As I was surfing around I discovered the pimsleur's language courses and all of a sudden I had a bunch of those on my computer... hehe... One of them was pimsleurs mandarin chinese 1. I happened to listen to the first lecture and I got instantly addicted. You might say I fell in love with the sound of chinese. I listened every day for the next month and learned pinyin in order to notate the sounds I was hearing in the pimsleur's tapes. In october I signed up at CPod. I didn't care much about characters until recently. I just bought the pleco software and I hope that can help with the characters. Characters really isn't my thing. I like audio and pinyin.

Well, that's it. No plan. No goal. Just enjoying learning this mysterious language and all the things it brings along...

。。。比如这两个月我的新中国朋友请我吃糖醋排骨,牛肉干,鸡的脚(?)和元宵,太好了啊,我想瑞典饭店里那种菜都没有。

Long live CPod and this fine community!
