actually CPod has kindly asked the users to provide pin1yin1 and english translations in the newbie and elementary comments. I guess you saw some of the comments that doesn't have pin1yin1 and english translation.
I can't read han4zi4 either but I use the chinese perakun plugin to read the characters. Perakun is a free popup translator for mozilla firefox.

Great update! I'd like to request one as well: sometimes I can't remember whether or not I have replied to a certain message in my message inbox. It would be great to have a small flag, arrow or similar near the messag to indicate I have replied. E.g. the blue arrows in this picture.

yes I think it is a bit hard too. sao3, cao3, zao3, and tao3 can be difficult to distinguish. It helps to download the pinyin chart and listen to those sounds.
From my frame of reference it makes sense to look upon them as follows:
s -> s (chinese s = swedish s = english s) sao3
t -> thhh (not the th sound as in "this", but as a t folowed by an h. Just like a t with a lot of aspiration. t+hhhao3.
z -> ts (a discreet t with no aspiration, followed by a short s. ts+ao3.)
c -> tshhh (like the z above but with a lot of aspiration after the ts. That is, not a long s, but rather ts followed by a lot of aspiration, as in the h. I think of cao3 as ts+hhhao3. Not tsssss+ao3.)
I hope that makes sense...
(Above, I indicated the forceful chinese h with hhh. The swedish h has less aspiration.)
