When used in greeting, "hái hǎo" and "hái kěyǐ" have same meaning and are interchangeable.
"kěyǐ" has another meaning of "can", and it's used to ask for permission.
--wǒ kěyǐ jìnlái ma? (May I come in?)
--kěyǐ. (Yes, you can.)
