November 22, 2010 at 9:05 AMThe dialog itself is not, but the lesson features Steve, a foreigner, speaking Chinese with incorrect tones. During the lesson, Jenny corrects him. It's meant to help you hear common mistakes people make with tones.

It doesn't mean we'll stop making them like this. In fact we're trying to make some ellie's a bit harder so as to bridge that gap between elementary and intermediate. Hope that clarifies things!
