Glad you found this helpful - it's part of our attempt to close the gap between ellies and intermediates.

This has traditionally been true, though these days you can find a lot of immigrants from the Mainland in many Chinatowns. Most famously, perhaps, is the Fujianese community in Flushing Chinatown (Queens, NY). See this wikipedia article about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinatown,_Flushing.

We implemented this change today. Check out our blog post for more details: Printable Expansion Sentences. Glad you find them useful!

These sentence re-ordering exercises are automatically generated. We changed to this system in 2009. All lessons before that were automatically changed. Because this lesson features a monologue instead of a dialog, it's additionally unsuited to this kind of exercise. Sorry you experienced this problem - we've taken out the sentence re-ordering on this particular lesson because we feel it's unhelpful to learners.

Some of the old advanced lessons didn't have translations, but long ago some staff went back and fixed these. Unfortunately when this one was fixed, it wasn't published. I've republished - everything should be there now!

Hi these were fixed last week. If you're still hearing the old version, I'd recommend emptying the cache in your browser, then accessing the files again. Hope this helps!

@phil2010 Thanks for your input. 2 new hosts, Dilu and Jason, have recently begun hosting (all hosts start with the lower levels) and will continue to be a presence in our podcasts. We are continuing our search for male Chinese voices, which we believe will bring more diversity to our team and our teaching.

I will ask that you post your suggestions/ideas regarding this matter in a community post from now on. In our Commenting Policy it's stated that these lesson discussion areas are reserved for relevant comments - "...'relevant' generally means comments or questions about the language points or cultural points in the lesson." Thanks for your understanding.

We have suggestions for how many newbie lessons will prepare you for the elementary level. Check out our How to Use ChinesePod podcast on the subject. As for Pimsleur, we have no relationship with the company and there's no level correlation with their products.

A lot of people use the two terms interchangeably to describe the candelabrum used at Hanukkah. Wikipedia "Menorah"
