How do we say "I had a weird dream last night".

(A weird dream isn't necessarily a nightmare. It's just weird. For example, a dream involving oneself talking to horses. That would be weird, right?)

at 4:15 of this lesson, David says something that I'm not sure if I'm right. 晚上睡不着觉？ Was that it? (wǎnshàng shuì bu zháo jiào)

If that is what David said, then what is the difference between that and just saying 睡不着？

The first vocabulary word in this lesson is 八月份，and the pinyin is shown as bāyuèfèn.  Is the 份 in this actually pronounced with a neutral tone, or a 4th tone?

At this moment, I'm inclined to think that lots of foreign words are transliterated using the bó reading. Examples are the two city names in this lesson (柏林and 都柏林).

Here is something to consider: Are there any names of mainland Chinese people with the character 柏, but with the reading bó? I know that in Taiwan it is absolutely common, but I'd like to know if there are any from mainland China.

I just found a Hong Kong actress with 柏 in her name. 张柏芝(zhāngbózhī) Is she famous in mainland China?

Question:

There are two vocabulary words in this lesson with the character 柏 bó.I'm curious about this character, because it seems to have two different readings, for no particular reason. The other reading, which is the most commonly known reading in mainland China is bǎi.

My question is, is there any rule or logic for the two separate readings?

If I'm not mistaken, bó and bǎi both mean the same thing, which is a type of tree. This isn't like other Chinese characters such as 熟(shú/shóu), which also has two separate readings, because 熟 can basically be read either shú or shóu for any word, and I believe they're both considered common and correct.

But for 柏, we can't read 柏林 as bǎilín, and we can't read 都柏林 as dūbǎilín. So, what's going on here? Are there any sort of general rules associated with this character? Such as, perhaps, city names are with the bó reading?

What makes this one especially complicated is, the tree 柏树 is read bǎishù in mainland China, and bóshù in Taiwan.

1. If, while playing ping-pong, somebody hits the ball and then says 没有diān, (meaning that the ball didn't land on the other side of the table), then what character is that diān ?

2. Is there a difference between 接球 and 回球 ？
