Jenny,

Very funny about how your parents aimed for year of the dog.I had heard that it was thought to be good to be born in year of the dragon. But I didn't know that Chinese parents hung out for the year they liked.Too bad if you just missed one and had to wait 11 years.Interesting that they were considering pig also.Would this have been considered extra lucky or had some other special significance given your surname?

Talking of vacations,is it true you are coming to Australia this month as had been suggested by a Poddie in the Australia group a few months ago?

My guess for Chinese food most hated by foreigners would be dog.

Great news about Obama.Land of the free and home of the brave.

architpol,

That reminds me of the pedestrian walk signals at lights in Taiwan. It would also give a countdown and as it got closer to zero the animation of the person walking would get faster.Very funny.Had to hurry if you wanted to avoid being a live version of frogger.

jackfrombelgium,

No worries. But the funny thing is that I posted your photo above to show you that it could be done, and it was on the site and now it's gone.Oh well,it's your photo ,so if you want it reposted you should be able to do it now.Let me know if any problems.

Well done Amber;with the recent Intermediate lesson on Counterfeit money I thought most things would have been already discussed in the comments section. But not at all;it was still very interesting and entertaining.Rip..oh yeah ;it was real ;too bad.I wonder if they'd accept it if the note was taped back together.Probably not the vendors by the sounds of it ;but the banks would have to you'd think.

Very funny re offering a 20kuai bribe for a 10 kuai fine.lol.yeah;good deal.I love the way you ask all the relevent questions that we'd want answered when you discuss a topic. Can't get enough of this show.

..after all ;people have been known to pay a lot of money to buy elephant paintings ,and I'm sure didi's end product could compete artistically...

Changye;ever given your chubby dog a go at paw painting?

I knew as soon as there was drawing and little kids involved that there was going to be trouble [ poor little didi's unappreciated early artistic attempts;hope he hasn't been too discouraged ].I'm sure all parents understand this one.A cool solution to this problem can be to paint your kids rooms with magnetic paint. You can get a variety that you can also draw on.A link to a site that talks about this is here.
