Yeah.Usually just left.If you're running late ,it sounds so much better to be able to say that you're "on your way" than "about to leave" even though the two can be only moments apart.

That's what I thought.But I thought I'd better verify it before I posted and looked up Jia1na2da4ren2 on mdbg and it didn't recognise it.So I typed "Canadian" into mdbg and it just gave Jia1na2da4 as the word for both Canada and for Canadian.But perhaps this was a shortcoming of mdbg?

Thanks.I had started having a go at translating the audio and then realised you'd already done it.

I made the first sentence as:

你喜欢吃四川菜还是上海菜 ?

The second sentence:

我比较喜欢吃四川菜

Third sentence:

ooops.Actually I had underanalysed it,but got it now.Got distracted by the photo and missed the mei2you3 at the end which made all the difference.A lovely story Connie.A sense of humour is such a valuable asset in a parent.Thanks for sharing.
