Thanks Pete.It was a lame attempt at rhyming but I knew it was unlikely to sound natural or be the usual expression. But thanks for giving me the usual expression.I love some of the other expressions here in this discussion such as 雷声大雨点小,and Sushans no triflers comment,非诚勿扰,lol.

I understand the metonymy of 美眉 beautiful eyebrows representing beautiful women, but what I was unclear of was the English translation "...personal ads on MM".I realise MM is an abreviation of 美眉,but just wanted to clarify if MM was also the name of the website where you see such ads? ..I presume it's the same story on GG?

I think 2nd tone is appropriate for 眉 as one does raise one's 眉 when one sees a 美眉

RJ,your talk of "skirts" reminds me of another expression;"big girls blouse"...what you call a guy who's being a wuss.

I'd love to hear a follow up lesson where you have a guy responding to this ad.Perhaps it could even be a few applicants. One or two that get cut off pretty early in the piece[perhaps one just not up to scratch, and one that finds her not up to scratch],and then one that's a bit more interesting....hmm.

Yes,very touching indeed.I'm impressed with the effectiveness of making it sound like a baby.

Thanks Cassie. The music was a great choice too.

So how about future tense for departure and past tense for when they're reunited?

Would the past tense be:

“我想你了”..".I missed you" ?

我爱这个课。越听CPod越梦我去中国

Calkins,

你的 “Vocabulary picture of the day" 真的帮我们。你教我们这个词 “梦” 和昨天和今天“梦”是这里在CPod课。多谢。

changye 叔叔,

I think it depends on the type of makeup,as there can be different methods of removal. What type do you wear if you don't mind me asking?

Pete,

They say opposites attract,so while that may sound like a bonus when it comes to the replies you can expect from your ad,as your ad states you're a compulsive liar [and thus you must be the opposite to what you state] you can expect to attract a hideous,obese,smelly....

changye,

谢谢为那个词"好不".我同意;forewarned is forearmed. :)

changye,

"好不" is surprising. Is this very commonly used? It may also be confusing in the middle of a sentence where you're perhaps more likely to think the 不 is going to refer to the character after it.I suppose in spoken language, even at natural rapid speed, there are small gaps between the words that would give the clue that the 好 and 不 are together.

Jenny,

It's interesting to see the same type of terminology used in Chinese in terms of "黑色星期五”。Back in 1987 我想卖了我的股但是我爸爸说“不卖了”。以后我们有黑色星期一。以后我是套牢了。现在我还有那个无用股,哈哈
