lmao ! While many may relate to this generally,I think it takes someone of a certain age,and in interest in Chinese to fully appreciate how good that is.I can completely relate to this one mate and love it [I've always loved that song and have since it came out btw,and definitely a great one to sing out very loud in the shower,hehe],but I'm not sure how many more of our breed are out there mate[but I'm sure more than a few Poddies...RJ for one I'm guessing...am I right ? ].But as you say,it's all int the eye/ear of the beholder/listener and that's what counts mate.Keep 'em coming.Gold.Thanks.

February 28, 2009 at 1:36 PMAnother great poem,again with interesting contrasts,fabulous background sounds,and great discussion.I like the way the tones are really emphasised here.Thanks for pointing out current idioms Pete.You're going from strength to strength.Although it is a timeless theme we can all empathise with,the major difference that struck me between the era the poem was written in and the current one [with modern communication,transport,etc] was the waiting wives.How long would they have to wait before they found out their husbands fates? Indeed,would they ever find out? Oh the exquisite pain of their ever drawn out waiting.You can't help but feel for them.

Yeah,fermented mare's milk is apparently also known as airag,ayrag,or kumys.Interestingly,it seems there is a good reason for the fermentation.Most Mongolians [~88% of Inner Mongolians] are lactose intolerant.Mare's milk has an even higher level of lactose than cows milk,but fermentation destroys the lactose and converts it to ethanol and other byproducts.So it seems that historically it came down to a choice between drinking the mares milk raw and hanging around with 拉肚子 [diarrhoea ] or fermenting it,getting drunk and going off to conquer the world.History has given us the answer as to what choice was taken.Tvan,lol..I loved your story.Even so,I'd love to try it at least once.Jenny,Matt,and vikram,thanks for posting those vids.Very cool hearing that distinctive style of singing and good effort Ken.hehe.

If they are common then it seems more likely in a scenario like this,where the requirements are being specified from the start.What if the guys salary drops or he gets retrenched;will he be in breach of contract then and grounds for divorce?
btw RJ,I saw no requirement for being handsome specified.Thus I saw no reason Herman Munster should not apply [seems like the perfect candidate to me,and such a charming disposition]:
