mate I took it to mean that she thought CPod students speaking [tones /pronunciation] was better because we had listened to so many podcasts. This made sense to me.I think lots of listening certainly helps pronunciation/tones even one when doesn't get a lot of chance to practice speaking [it'd be interesting to hear how simonpetterson is faring on this front...I suspect very well].I think lots of exposure to listening to native speakers on the podcasts with the ability to rewind etc really helps.It obviously would beat learning from a book,and class time I think is limited.I think hearing something many times till it's drummed in like music would be better than hearing something once and trying to then get the tones right with lots of poor speaking.There can be a limit to class time,whereas the convenience of online learning is that you can do it whenever convenient so more chances to listen. I'm not saying speaking practice isn't important....I think it's essential at some stage...but I just think good listening comes first and then put it in practice.

Just to get the ball rolling with an answer ,I wouldn't take it from what you have above that 发挥 means "play to potential" on it's own.But one meaning of it is "to bring out implicit or innate qualities",so I think this meaning combined with “很好” would give us the equivalent of "playing to potential".Just my 2 fen mate. :)

thanks mate.hehe,it could be fun to go to the florist and without indicating which ones you want ,just request using the various measure words and see how they respond,in your case with the ones you haven't heard of.
