Steve,

I'm wondering why he chose that term. Is "tai" meant to represent "tie" as in "tied to the spouse" but a hip way of spelling it? Nothing to do with Muay Thai I guess.

"I can't see how a passenger could be blamed for an accident. Maybe distracting the driver with bad Chinese. :) "

..yes, exactly what I was thinking...distracting the driver with bad Chinese, or grabbing the steering wheel in panic, or making a dive for the front seat to make a quick fare evading exit when the back doors are locked and bumping said driver on the way out ;)

I presume joschka meant that both parties had to be in the same elevator [phew....I'm at a safe distance down under] and I'm not sure if typing on a forum counts as chatting in this context. My guess is that if you were texting or webchatting someone in the same lift that you are lovers but not "acknowledged" lovers.

Interesting. Thanks for the link Henning. Good pick up and a relevant place to post it, though I can't imagine, even if they were strict on the new rules, that they'd be worried about this lesson where the time travel is merely a device to introduce a discussion on a topic. But yeah, I know how special this dinosaur lesson is to you mate. 别急朋友 :)

"This makes the elevator a vaguely erotic environment and that discourages any conversation other than between acknowledged lovers. "

Wa, tell me more. This is news to me. So we can assume anyone chatting in an elevator is an acknowledged lover of the person they're chatting to? That is interesting [even more so if there are several involved in the conversation...what's going on here?]. And if anyone other than my wife tries to chat to me I'll immediately have to set their misunderstanding about the nature of our relationship straight, audience or not . I'm going to have to be more observant from now on. All these social cues I've not picked up on.

"..he does not have, well afaik, a passion for Harley's like his predecessor, we can only hope"

..."we can only hope"..shenme yisi? Wonder what my mate bodawei thinks of that, hehe.

Nah, looks like he's more keen on the electric motorcycle which he was encouraging the American export of to china last year:
