May 29, 2011 at 2:19 AMwhat about xiao you? After all she's an assistant also, so detective Li may have been referring to her when he said that the assistant was the murderer. She was up bright and early [keen to get a spot of work done before getting to work early]. Having freshly graduated she may be young and idealistic and already be jaded by how often crooks get away with their crimes. Being pretty sharp with the latest training and a tad overzealous she may have already been onto this xiaolaoban, known not only that he was guilty of some crimes but that he would also get away with it, so decided to take matters into her own hands, bit of vigilantism. She played the part of the naive newbie well, too well methinks.

May 29, 2011 at 2:04 AM“why Li did not go directly to the scene”
。。exactly. I did consider this for that reason [except for the Mafia bit...I prefer to think of Li as a strong character even if huai] ..thought he could be trying to frame this assistant, and wondered whether xiao You would be our new hero. But I don't think they'll have gone for this plot twist. For starters it might confuse poddies to have the upcoming episodes as part of Detective Li series [run by xiao you or newly named the xiao you series] unless he's making up for his crimes by helping solve the next ones from behind bars...which I wouldn't mind seeing mind you. I wonder what term you'd use when a 大名鼎鼎的 falls from grace. He's not going to be a 小名鼎鼎的 is he?

May 28, 2011 at 11:02 PM“but the lady in the back has her hands definitely high on the oar handle on the inboard side of the gunwale, which would be inefficient if not impossible for paddling”
。。。I can see why you guys would say that, particularly at first glance, but I'd be willing to put a decent bet on the fact that she's not rowing. Yes, it would be inefficient paddling in that position [even more so if her paddle's not in the water which I think it might not be].....I think she's bludging [if her paddle is in the water then she's feigning a token effort...surely grounds for tossing her in the drink, right?]....she's the one who's cracked out the 累死了 line in the dialogue. All the other boats look the same too and the folk at the back in the other boats are clearly paddling.
