I think tony_jarvis's suggestion is the best and easiest. As well as using the scroll wheel to enlarge or shrink the size, you could alternatively hold down control and + to enlarge or - to shrink. But this enlarges or shrinks the whole page which some people don't like. I haven't used one but I believe you can get programmes that turn your mouse cursor into a magnifying glass so it just magnifies what you're scrolling over. I think this may be one such programme:
