December 12, 2011 at 1:04 PMyeah, I was just thinking about that. I'm sure it's a deliberate device to break the stereotypes, but what I was thinking was that despite that, there probably are some Jacks in Germany. There's gotta be some....but I would think pretty rare....can our German poddie friends set us straight on just how rare [or otherwise] Jack is as a name in Germany [particularly with that spelling]?...I'm talking about native Germans of course. I'm sure there must be a reasonable number of foreign Jacks.

December 12, 2011 at 1:01 PMhaha, love the deliberate irony in this line:
你们外国人都很有个性
..very clever dialogue all round. Must say I love the idea of this lesson. Perhaps a tad on the brave side too....good stuff.

December 12, 2011 at 3:06 AMBazza's last post was July 13, 2009, but let's hope for Xmas he does come back and continue the good work. That would be my wish, bring back all the lost Cpoddies.

December 12, 2011 at 2:59 AMHey Bill,
I'm liking this story, but "小小诗歌"....do you mean "small poem"?
...or do you mean it was poetic imagery?
Love the mention of Bretagne, which reminds me....you speak French right? Have you thought of going on FrenchPod to brush it up? I can highly recommend it [and there are some lessons there I can particularly recommend] and I'm all there on my lonesome [well almost] on the boards. I've got a feeling you're more or less fluent though, right? and don't need any brushing up.

December 12, 2011 at 2:39 AMguolan,
thanks for your reply. I must say I'm even more intrigued now. I would say I completely agree with a. and with half of b [the need for discipline]. I'm intrigued because the discipline techniques you used in the classroom [that didn't involve spanking] were extremely effective and you were even complemented on this, and yet you still seem to want to follow others example rather than back yourself. My take on it is that discipline is extremely important and the trouble is that those that decided not to spank didn't bother to learn other methods resulting in undisciplined children and therein lies the problem. But it sounds like you have those skills already. My advice would be to back yourself.
