yeah, I heard it was Liesel Jones original coach Ken Wood but he's at Redcliffe. Are you referring to someone else up the sunshine coast or are you counting Redcliffe as Sunshine Coast?

"Since it seems it probably boils down to our different perceptions about what actually happened in the dialog"

agreed, I was just thinking that myself. I would still maintain though that even if he was staring at her and making up knowing her, that the lajiaoshui [hot pepper spray ] was totally uncalled for. Can anyone really defend that?

"agree to disagree in all cordiality"

..absolutely. I get pretty excited about a good debate on an interesting topic but I hope you don't take anything I've said as anything but cordial.

"It's fiction -- there is no truth!"

...sure, but that shouldn't stop us debating what's most plausible and what's most reasonable under the circumstances given....and I haven't had this much fun since the Litanzhang series. And I still have some points to make if you'll bare with me. Firstly regarding the "evil grin". When he was deemed to have an "evil grin" he was too far away for them to tell that it was an "evil grin"...the evidence for this being that he had to walk all the way towards them before Weiwei realised he was a looker which made her change her tune. Next point...getting back to the whole high school thing....why would Frank bring up something specific like the fact that she was in some school plays if it wasn't true? I'm assuming most kids don't make it into the school play...it would be immediately recognised as a lie so wouldn't be very smart of him, and even if he randomly chanced on the fact she was in a play she could easily question him about this and catch him out. If he had just found this inside info out from someone else who did know her, then surely they could just introduce him, making the whole story unnecessary. No, on a plausibility basis, she should not have jumped to such a hasty conclusion without at least questioning him further. I rest my case, hehe. Thanks for an interesting discussion Rachel :)

"actually, now I'm curious, I don't even recall what was discussed in the podcast when they got to that part of the dialogue"

...finally got around to listening to the podcast again and no wonder I didn't recall what was said about the hypocrisy at that point...it wasn't commented on....they went straight from discussing her checking her makeup etc, to discussing him coming over. The were language focussed at that point. I think they make these socially provocative bits speak for themselves and then let us all go for it here..it worked, hehe ;)

yes, nice story, thanks mate. By any chance and stretch of the imagination, were the outlines of those mountain peaks in the shape of the respective chicken and horse?

ok, reading that article, it appears that it was a first for Brunei and Qatar also:

"But they were effectively embarrassed into submission when it emerged that Brunei and Qatar, the only other nations who had yet to send women to Games, were doing so this time around"

..also sounds like the brave lass still faced a lot of opposition back home. It would be interesting if this was discussed on ArabicPod....
