September 20, 2010 at 2:58 AMAric's logic is flawed. If you 'tell 2 friends' and they 'tell 2 friends' and so on, you probably will not 'eventually find somebody with no friends' as the channel of communication is entirely dependent on the presence of a friendship in the first place.

September 8, 2010 at 2:21 AMI still have a pref to discuss more grammar in the lessons. I find the tendency is to gravitate towards vocab.

August 10, 2010 at 12:13 AMI guess cross pollination of languages is inevitable. However I am not a big fan of it. (Although its how we got just about all of our words in 'English'.) Sometimes its whole words not just acronyms. The other day I heard someone say 'Celsius' and I had to say 'you mean 摄氏度'. There does seem to be a tendency to dilute Chinese, which is a real shame. Personally I have always been more of a 自动取款机 person than an ATM guy.

August 6, 2010 at 6:38 PMThe complicated and mysterious air con remote. For me this was one my first great mysteries I encountered in China. To this day I still have more luck randomly pressing the buttons and hoping for the right result than actually reading the instructions.

September 24, 2010 at 12:59 AMGoing back over some of these older lessons I really like the depth they went into and some of the quasi-serious economic / business topics they covered. I for one would like to see more of this style.
