May 31, 2009 at 7:52 PMJenny - on advanced discussions would you mind please writing your comments in Chinese? Nothing like reading from a native speaker, especially on related content. Woops Im guilty too, but hey, Im lazy!

March 27, 2009 at 5:20 PMI dont often check in with the Media lessons but I have to say the link to a video like this is super-excellent. Helps so much to consolidate the vocab. Expecially when 汉字字幕 are included.
Its like talking on the phone in Chinese which I find infinitely more difficult than talking to someone in person. The visual clues help alot. And in life we usually can see. So - great concept, just use exisint videos (ie dont blow money on stuff like the Radical Show...) and leverage what exists on the net. Then lets discuss.

March 12, 2009 at 3:59 AMHey guys!
Great choice of name on the fake card. Kazuo. Is that a play on words like ka zou or 卡走? Very subtle! Err but why the Japanese surname, I suspect to match the phonetic sound of the fake first name Kazuo!
Ok I gotta go.

February 14, 2009 at 7:00 PMI really think that every level is getting easier. It is overstating my progress with learning. For example compare the complexity of this lesson with the early Upper Intermediate ones like 0206 Discussing Photography. I think the early UI lessons (at least some of them) are harder.
This may have the effect of suggesting more progress than is actually earned. 'Hey I used to be intermediate, now I am advanced!!!' No.
Anyone else think this? Maybe we need a 'Super Advanced' level that is the same as what Advanced used to be??

December 18, 2008 at 12:40 PMIm not taking myself too seriously as was suggested in the comments. Nor am I smart person who thinks Im dumb or a dumb person who thinks Im smart. Im just a guy struggling to wrestle this language and life is busy. So when I come to cpod I am in learning mode. If you want to look at goofy videos then youtube has millions of them for your entertainment.
I recognise that the series is geared towards the beginer level. But look at the beginner audio episodes. They are focussed on learning but delivered in a spirited and entertaining way. The equivalent of this video in a newbie audio episode would be Ken and Jenny goofing off in English for 80% of the lesson then talking about 1 or 2 Chinese words. This does not happen, good thing, and that is why cpod works. Even the old lenghty cpod introduction was axed to cut out the fluff and get to the meat of the lesson earlier.
I really like the idea of using video for something as visual as learning characters. I think John and the team should push forward, after hearing the community.

June 3, 2009 at 12:53 AMThanks Jenny
Yes I think thats what the movie the Fly is about. I think there was even a sequel. Im not sure how a guy can become a half-fly twice! Does that mean he ended up being a quarter-fly? Talk about bad luck!
Thanks for the clarification.
