Could someone comment on the structure
是不是你那个前女友
why is this preferred over:
是不是你的前女友? Would 是不是你的前女友 also be correct?

August 21, 2012 at 3:18 AMno but I did hang with hippies. It is possible that you and your crew had your own slanguage, but I think you still have your dream job 黄片巡查员 stuck in your mind from this weeks BST :-)

August 21, 2012 at 2:48 AMHmmm, to me a chick flick has always been those sappy romantic movies that girls like to watch and usually end up crying at the end. A quintessential "chick flick" would be "Sleepless in Seattle" Thats always been my understanding and I dont think its changed. Wikipedia seems to back me up with this defnition:
"Chick flick is a slang term for a film mainly dealing with love and romance and designed to appeal to a largely female target audience"

- altruism only exists due to its evolutionary advantage. (There is no such thing as a truly "nice guy") :-)

August 17, 2012 at 2:05 AMHey Professor,
Amen. I still remember how thrilled I was to find Cpod. Suddenly, learning Chinese seemed possible. It was the best game in town then, and its the best game in town now. Its been great fun watching the lesson quality improve at an exponential rate. They are now light years ahead of where they were when I first listened to Ken and Jenny reveal the secrets of everyday Chinese. And such valuable secrets they were. Definitely looking forward to 2000 more.

Donating whole blood lowers iron which reduces the risk of cancer and heart disease. In addition your body replenishes all the fluid lost in 48 hours and the blood cells within 4-6 weeks. The act of replenishment is good for your body. Think of it as getting some brand new Qi, fresh as when you were a baby. Its good for your Qi. Out with the old, in with the new.
I dont think anybody could make a living selling whole blood, in the US you can only give whole blood every 56 days, but plasma can be sold twice every 7 days. During plasma donation, your blood is collected and then separated into its components by a machine; the machine keeps the plasma and returns the rest to you. Your blood stays confined within a single-use sterile tubing kit and sterile equipment, so the process should be completely safe. Unfortunately there were some problems in the 1990's where non sterile equipment was re-used and was responsible for a lot of the HIV transmission in rural China at the time. That has since been corrected, but I would be more concerned about this than losing Qi. I just read where in the US you can make 260 dollars a month selling plasma twice a week. That explains the line outside the blood bank every morning. Im not going into it but sperm donation is actually more profitable, but you must be taller than 5'7, college educated, and under 39. Maybe material for another show?
