Excellent! Still no pdf, but excellent lesson. Good idea to make "ba" a series. Looking forward to the rest. Its really not that tough to understand, just tough to get used to.

Bill - you said

"wisdom comes from unlearning. Unlearning the customs, rituals, and beliefs that lead us to be harmful to one another, to our enviroment, to other living things".

I agree, and studying other cultures helps us to do this, by making us realize how arbitrary our prejudices and rituals really are.

You learn well grasshopper, but you better stop imagining a young new bride, or your wife is going to clobber you. :-)

I think it worked well. I also noticed expansion, pdf etc on a video lesson. Does this mean they will now be available on QW and PWP? Nice job Matt.

Cornelia,

yea, we dont use the phrase in the US. baba's reference to sam refers to this fact and the fact that we call the American govt "Uncle Sam". Army posters used to say "Uncle Sam wants you".  I hope that answers your question.

Just give it, they'll love it, and Bobs your uncle. I dont like to be baited, teased, and trailered.

Changye- you are right, single character words are very tough.

baba mate,

I did make the shaking gesture (which I thought was the international sign for salt) and it was over a hard boiled egg - still got an ash tray!

oh, btw, I just saw the Chinese Easter Bunny. Poor guy was dying in that costume and they were selling photo ops with him. Of course he was a bit thinner than Easter bunnies in the US. You got to love China.

Changye,

yea! actually I am better at asking for an ash tray. Sometimes I think they do this on purpose just to play with me.

This morning I asked for salt and I got an ash tray. Come to China if you want to be humbled.

I dont buy lottery very often. The odds are terrible. I do like to play the crap tables however. The poor play the lottery, and the rich play the stock market.

Interesting lesson. I didnt even know they had a lottery in China.
