January 8, 2014 at 9:29 PM"但一有人靠近,他又马上把抽屉关上并锁住。"
"并" is not explained in this lesson, but I think it should have been.
What is "并" doing in this sentence?

January 4, 2014 at 8:06 PMVera mentions the word "慈善" as "charitable." Can this also be used in the sense of taking a charitable interpretation of someone's actions, that is, if someone does something ambiguous, and you decide that they must have had good intentions, rather than assuming they have bad intentions?
Or is 慈善 only used in contexts of actually giving aid?

December 28, 2013 at 12:50 AMHi. Thank you for this. Please ignore my comment below (and have the tech department restore the ability to delete comments?). The second page of comments was showing up as blank until after I'd posted, leading me to ask a question you had already answered. Sorry about that.

December 26, 2013 at 6:54 PMTypo:
"I hope that you're business is prosperous and makes a lot of money!"
you're = your
"事业有成!" is translated as: "May your business be a success!"
Would this not more accurately be "your career"?

December 22, 2013 at 7:34 PMAre there other ways besides 房费 to express the cost of your stay in a hotel room? Is this the most common (or only?) term?
Does this expression also refer to other rooms, such as at a karaoke establishment?
