April 15, 2007 at 12:58 PMKNEES - Ken, thanks for taking the time in the podcast to link 'gai' the word for 'lid' to 'xi gai' kneecap. I wasn't retaining kneecap on the first few listens of the dialogue only song. Then I listened to the full podcast. Many words with 'xi' since there are so many seem to make it harder for me to remember. But 'gai' is in my head somewhere as pot lid, and when you put two and two together -- well there it was, that nice stuck feeling for certain words when you know they won't be forgotten. In the future, when someone asks what makes podcasts better than classes or books, point them to this lesson and say 'people can practice this in their pajamas'. Cheers.

April 15, 2007 at 9:00 AMRightie'O - It's an answer to an old posted question above by Meiguoren, an English analogy would be your teacher saying it's correct to say, "May I ask you how one would say that in French, hello?" versus "How do say that in French?" She's of course not wrong, but let's keep you sounding like a normal person and not the Queen. Language teachers - don't let'em mess up your speaking! IMO
