BAD APPLES -

FREEEEDOM - In honor of all men (and women) celebrating July 4th in the U.S., 51st State Day (Canada Day), Not the Mainland (Hong Kong) Independence Day and liberation from the clutches of a conniving woman - 祝你自由! zhu ni ziyou, Freedom to you! (....then I believe the man's head get's chopped off aka William Wallace in Braveheart. But then again, Sophie Marceau is well worth it.)

Okie dokie - One distinction or use of 知道 that I still have a hard time with is it's use as "okay." In English it's not common to answer a question with "I know", rather we say "okay," "sure," "right." In the past, when I first started to learn Chinese I over-used keyi 可以 can do, okay, because it was well, more English-appropriate like. But in Chinese the conversation often goes like this: A: I'll meet you at the restaurant at 6 pm.
