thanks fzim, gives me a better idea what i'll be facing up there in Lijiang. Do most of these people speak mandarin or what?

Do any of the dictionaries have an english pinyin or anything that can benefit an english speaker?

I am planning on living in Lijiang with my family that is why i have so many questions. so i was wondering if most of the ethnic people groups speak mandarin there as well or if they just speak a bit.

Sounds challenging to understand their mandarin. thanks for the heads up.

Is there a Yunnan accent? i am moving out there and don't know how those people speak in comparison to people throughout the rest of China.

Don't know how these people are going to be talkin. u guys should do a lesson with Naxi wa, Pumi wa, Mosuo wa, and Lisu wa.

haha. i bet that would be crazy!!

不可思议 !!!!!!!!!!

尿布

the above characters are reffering to cloth diapers right?

尿不湿

when these characters are talking about disposable diapers.

why so complicated with 3 characters?

is there an easier way to say disposable diaper?

cantonese is so easy with just two characters to say disposable nappy.

anyone with insight?

Thanks.

what would be awesome is if chinesepod could do a dialogue with just all the chinese spoken in a Qing Wen episode with each Qing Wen, so Cpoders could review on i-pods, computers, etc. by just listening to the chinese without having to hear the full lesson.

Like, if you guys could do a recording of the PDF lesson from each Qing Wen that is all chinese that would be really extravagent!

I used chinesepod for a number of months years ago. Then i felt led to focus on cantonese and learnt cantonese first. After attaining fluency in cantonese i have been led back to chinesepod once again to now focus on attaing fluency in mandarin.

So it seems like i have been on chinesepod for a long time but really i have only used it just a number of months years ago. I just started using it again, full on diving in, for the mandarin. So i have no idea when they allowed people to put their chinese name in.

I just noticed though hardly anybody uses a chinese name for their profile name on CPOD. It wasn't till' this time around i tried to put my first name in chinese for my profile name and it worked.

where i lived in HK. it was because people threw food to the cats continuously near where i lived. "outside that is".

So they kept coming to the same place to call out all through the night for food. that could be what's happening where u live.

My wife and i spent many nights ticked off and not being able to sleep because of street cats calling out next to our windows all night.

Is this thing common allover China or what? I think u and I may just be in the bad areas "for cat calling". Thankfully we moved out of that place though. Hopefully every block isn't like this!

has anyone on here eaten cat in China?

I must admit i was in a place called Seun Dut "just know the cantonese pronounciation" in Guangdong and there was a really nice family that decided they wanted to cook up their two kittens for my friends and I. For cat lovers sake, i don't think i need to continue with details.

How do you say cat hot pot in chinese?
