ok, 4th leg of race is playing still via this link:
http://www.smgbb.cn/2010/tv/live.html?220-1281306600
For some reason I couldn't get it to work last week for the 3rd leg of the race and the China Rush site:
http://www.chinarush.tv/HighlightsIndex.aspx?key=video
..is still saying the full episode videos are coming soon [ when?]
I guess no-one knows where the 3rd episode can be seen now? [ looks like I missed an entertaining scene with Molly diving in the water and hauling a bit to shore singlehandedly..zhen lihai ! hehe ]

thanks suxiaoya...I couldn't find it there last time..but that was back when it very fist came out, so I'll have another look. Cheers.

Hey bababardwan, I believe you can find all the episodes on youku.com.
Molly is a trooper, even when drunk from baijiu roulette - zhen lihai, indeed.

The Amazing Race is indeed a family favorite here. It always gets more interesting after the first few weeks when there are fewer contestants and everyone starts picking favorites. This looks to be the case here as well.
I'm sure this show could be edited to make any team look any way they want. I just hope it continues to be available somewhere online.
My daughter also commented that the host, Allan Wu, looks exactly like the host of the American version, except he's Chinese.

Baba, you're right - I should show more restraint. If I carry on like this I won't be taken seriously when I have a point to make; besides, I don't want to upset anyone or get a reputation for being a pedlar of smut. By the way, thanks for giving me the clap.
bababardwan
August 18, 2010 at 10:38 PM
Please don't ask me to explain
...hehe, brick, I've not known you to show restraint, but I think it was wise in this case, 因为你的意思是触目惊心

When I clapped the use of I littered in your above post, I forgot to mention that ai love your use of ai-literation at the start.

Hi Dan, no apologies needed. My fault. I assumed a self-righteous pose to make a joke about tossing 爱人 at your expense - just a bit of playful banter. If you were british you would understand the innuendo. Please don't ask me to explain. Haha

I just tried to PM you, but it just kept 'sending' and never sent it. My pc must have a twisted cable or a screw loose. I'll just get down behind it and have a shufti.......Ooooohh.........
..............Nope, everything seems to be in order.
Will contact tech support - is that 'contact us' in the Help section ?
Got to go now. Toodle pip.

Where is all my fan mail ?
..maybe that's the problem...it's overwhelmed the system and caused your mailbox to crash.
You could try sending me a PM or alt contact tech support.

I honestly don't know what the problem is. My settings are set to receive - 'Forward Incoming Messages to email' is ticked - Where is all my fan mail ? Brian the Brain must have zapped me from the Negative Zone.

Hey mate, I'm still getting a "sorry, this page doesn't exist" when I try and send you a PM.
bababardwan
August 18, 2010 at 12:18 PM
dan,
I love that you went that way [with airen]. I usually prefer hanzi but sometimes pinyin is irresistible for it's ambiguity which I thought was worth employing here for exactly that reason.
bababardwan
August 18, 2010 at 12:15 PM
I've gotta thunderclap Captain Thunderclap on his use of "I" above...very good mate. :)

August 18, 2010 at 12:05 PM
I must be in error, then. Clearly you were referencing something totally different. My apologies.
BEBC
August 18, 2010 at 11:46 AM
I initially thought it was an acronym for Association Internationale pour la Recherché et l'Enseignement en Neurosciences
. This is why we should use hanzi rather than pinyin. HehHehI will make no comment on your interpretation of tossing 爱人。
danchao
August 18, 2010 at 11:27 AM
This is hilarious, because I first interpreted "airen" as 爱人, then realized that "airen" can also be interpreted as 矮人 after I made this post, and unwittingly wrote a post that made perfect sense.

Just checked - the UN High Commission on Human Rights has made a ruling that a ban on d-tossing is necessary in order to protect public order, but it seems it is still legal in the UK and Australia. Oh joy ! I can finally come out of the closet.
danchao
August 18, 2010 at 10:09 AM
Seems to me that according to your own profile pic, throwing airen isn't I-legal. I could be wrong, though, and perhaps you are showing us pictures from your verboten activities.
BEBC
August 18, 2010 at 09:55 AM
I ai airen. Now that airen throwing is I-legal there are many I-rate unemployed airen I-dling away their time in our sceptered Isle.
bababardwan
August 18, 2010 at 09:39 AM
I like the idea of a good sidekick, but before we can find a heshi one for you, are you the airen or the airen thrower, thunderbolt?
Also, I'd be interested in the Chinese view of such a contest..particularly in light of the giving, receiving, and losing of face.

Suxiaoya: Yesterday nothing would make my avatar display, but today it has inexplicably returned from the Negative Zone where it had been held captive by my arch enemy Brian the Brain. I'm currently canvassing for a sidekick, like Robin or Kato. Interested ? What do you look like in a leather cat-suit ?

Captain Thunderbolt -
I wonder, when you add your photo, do you scroll down the page a little and click "save changes"? I am aware that this button is quite easy to miss...
Should that fail to work, maybe we can do it for you ourselves from this end? Send a message to Support via the "contact us" button at the bottom of the page.
I am very much looking forward to seeing this avatar, especially if it reflects the brilliance of your user name ;-)
bababardwan
August 17, 2010 at 09:55 PM
time for reflection mate. Do you think you may have done anything in your career as a 拦路强盗 that may have caused you to 丢脸?
Sorry, no idea, better ask tech support.

Baba .... totally off-topic, but HELP ! How come my awesome avatar won't display ? I've tried changing it several times since things got back to normal, but nothing works - signing out and signing back in doesn't do it.
Am I just too sexy for this site ??
bababardwan
August 17, 2010 at 12:22 PM
well said. I agree with all that.
everyone starts picking favorites
..yeah, absolutely. The big difference in this case is we all have the ultramarathoners to barrack for in this case. But, my next favourite so far would be the Massai Warriors. They're great and have come out with some classic lines. I'm not too optimistic they'll make it too far though. I had a feeling the first round would turn out as it did at the end...was very glad it did too.
could be edited to make any team look any way they want
...yeah, that's the worry. Media like to make it interesting.
I thought the same about Allan Wu. I love Phil and don't know this Allan yet but his dress style and manner is similar.
James, that link above that Dan gave should hopefully work if you watch with in 7 days of the live screening on Sunday nights at 8pm. If you check it out now, you should see that you can navigate through 7 days of programming. That's my impression at least but it's all new to me.

August 11, 2010 at 12:47 AM
I never managed to watch the first episode on Sunday night live as I couldn't find a website that I could do it on. Does anyone know where you can catch the video of that first episode now?

August 26, 2010 at 03:35 AM
looks like in the end as far as I can see they didn't do a double whammy. Nothing on Saturday night and Sunday night showed episode 2, which you can still find by using Dan's link above which I'll repost here for convenience for everyone:
http://www.smgbb.cn/2010/tv/live.html?220-1281306600
..you just need to navigate to last Sunday night 20:00 Shanghai time on ics. As far as I can tell this will only be viewable for roughly the next couple of days, so for those who missed it live....

too much going on to follow it all fully
..yeah, but TAR is always like that, particularly at the start when there are a lot of teams and you're not so familiar with who's who and the relationship in the team [so you're trying to read that as well].
running around like headless chickens
..hehe, yeah, it's always like that too. I think it's filmed/edited the way it is so as a viewer you're sharing the headless chook feeling. We're right there with you Sarah, hehe ;)
..Yeah, I'm sure it will get better and better. Cheers
suxiaoya
August 16, 2010 at 09:28 AM
Haha, good to know you enjoyed it!
I was actually a bit disappointed. There was just too much going on to follow it all fully. Not that this is a big problem for me: Molly and I spent the first half of that episode running around like headless chickens; we were soooo hyped-up and had no idea what we were doing. Thankfully, this didn't get too much attention in the final edit ;-)
Anyway, I've been promised by the main Editor that the show gets a lot more exciting and engaging as the weeks goes on, with fewer teams left in the race...

thanks for letting us know it was postponed to Saturday. Loved the first episode btw. Jiayou !
bababardwan
August 16, 2010 at 07:08 AM
yeah, it looks like everything is back up and running today...except that link seems to take you to the last 7 days only [which means just follow that same link next time to watch it live or within 7 days..I hope] so episode 1 seems to be no longer available there. Anyone have a link to where episode 1 can still be seen?
suxiaoya
August 16, 2010 at 06:25 AM
Jen_not_jenny,
Episode 2 was indeed postponed for the reason bababardwan gave. They plan to do a double whammy this coming weekend, apparently, with an episode on both Saturday and Sunday evenings...

hey dan, don't worry about that above message. I think I've just worked out why I can't watch it live anywhere or get that link to work. It seems that public entertainment is being suspended for a day of mourning for victims of landslide in Gansu.
bababardwan
August 15, 2010 at 12:31 PM
zaogao. that link doesn't seem to be working anymore. Luckily I saw all of the first episode but I wanted to still be able to view it again and also I don't seem to be able to access anything that will give me the second episode. Is this a problem with the site, or are they blocking it to outsiders now? Can't watch it live either now. The China Rush site still hasn't uploaded any full episodes ..it still says "coming soon". Also the ICS channel link to watching it live still doesn't work. Any tips anyone? I thought I had this sorted and nothings working anymore.

I'm stoked. This is brilliant. All subtitled in zhongwen too and the very first task is so relevant to the recent "wrong way on the subway" lesson:
http://chinesepod.com/lessons/wrong-way-on-the-subway
..and predictably at 8m30s a team does go the wrong way.
Love the mix of teams too...including Masai warriors, and of course our very own suxiaoya. Jiayou !!

bababardwan
August 08, 2010 at 10:23 AM
is that link above:
http://www.chinarush.tv/index.html
...the best place to watch it online?
..I presume you can watch it any time after 8pm right?
Also, it had a countdown to 8pm ...and now it is counting down another 24 hours...I guess that's an error.
Also it was counting down to 8pm...but it was counting down to 8pm here, and Shanghai is 2 hours behind. Any explanation?

Hey jamestheron,
You didn't miss an announcement; I guess I just don't feel comfortable about self-promotion, especially when I've not seen any of the show myself yet!
For the premiere tonight, and the rest of the series, I will be doing my best not to take anything too seriously and to just enjoy the show for what it is. If you watch it, I hope you find it entertaining at least! :-)
