Awesome usernames
simonpettersson
February 14, 2010 at 07:49 PM posted in General DiscussionThis post is a celebration of people whose usernames are awesome. Mine is, obviously, not that awesome, but there are others. Amongst posters in the Community tab, two of the obvious candidates for awesomest username are hellotherebrick and lotsofwordsandnospaces. These are top-class fabulous usernames.
Amongst users I'd like to see more of are the two great usernames ashleykillpack and adsldestroy. I've only seen them in "Latest study activity" and "Newest users". Wish they'd post more, as with usernames that great they must be very smart people.
My all-time favorite, however, is both a very frequent poster and a very clever guy, as evidenced by his totally sweet-ass (can I say sweet-ass?) username: pretzellogic. That username blows my mind.
Feel free to bring forward other poddies with delicious usernames; I'm sure there are many more.

Hey Pretzell,
I just found a potential alternate avatar for you [not that there's anything wrong with the one you already have]:

...sorry,I'm currently a bit pressed for time or I would have edited out the writing at the top and bottom then uploaded to flickr and then linked, but if you can ignore that ,the photo itself seems apt, hey.

haha. When I saw the pretzel it looked like an emblem of a university in my home state. What does x-ray of Joe Conservative mean?

You fiend, I also discovered it means:
"To bong rip, or rip the bong.
To inhale smoked marijuana from a water pipe.
brip!"

Didn't they find out that the number of the beast is actually 616? I saw that on a BBC show somewhere. I thought it was funny, because my hometown is fairly religiously conservative and it just so happens that 616 is our area code. One also must use exit 69 to enter the suburbia I grew up in.
Okay, I digress...

Brip?.. as in:
Shredding a turn on a snowboard or skies. Also accomplishing anything in general, but usually only exuberant things.
I bripped that mountain.
You sure bripped that RBV.
You'll like the final example hellotherebrip:
"Cherish the Brip."
...maybe that Seinfeld episode was really saying "cherish the brip cabin"

No 6 please, I'm British. I'd better turn back into a brick before I'm accused of being a 6ist.
( Reminds me of The Prisoner - #6 )

666 - Whenever I hear a Kiwi say that number, I think 'this devil is feeling horny'.

y'know, part of the cool thing about cpod is that you hear what other people in other cultures deal with/grow up with. That's really interesting about the "group six" jokes. But then you become an adult, and group six jokes are just so 4th grade....

They are not, unfortunately ("granne" and "nummer", respectively). The phrase "The number of the beast" isn't really known in Swedish, anyway. Being a metal head, he (mis)quoted it in English.
Trivia: the words for "six" and "sex" are identical in Swedish (both are "sex"), causing hilarity to no end for grammatically inventive youngsters. Any teacher knows not to divide the children in more than five groups, for fear of the dreaded "group six" jokes.

The man is a genius ! Are the words 'neighbour' and 'number' similar in Swedish as they are in English, Simon ?

Cute. Too bad there aren't decimal places for license plates, but then i'd think Mr 667 was Mr .667, and i'd think he was approximating 2/3 or something.

A friend's sister's boyfriend had an awesome car. It had a licence plate ending in "667". He called it "The neighbor of the beast".

666_ is pretty cool. But i'd go into the stratosphere with a bit more subtlety around it, assuming that for the British, 666 means the same as it does for your average religious American.

blartyfast is pretty good, but I always think, shouldn't it be slartibartfast? maybe blartyfast is what his friends call him...

blartyfast cracked me up. It came up in the office - "Who's gonna respond to blartyfast's comment?" [giggle giggle]

'blartyfast' is pretty good. Obviously a Douglas Adams fan. fartyblast would have been better.
Looking at the list of newest users, fanyfanytiffany has got to be a contender.

I agree, and yet to be communally awesome, their significance needs to be understood by members of the community.

Below are my favorite avatars and usernames ever, namely, "chitty-series". Acdording to her, she registers with a new (similar) username everytime she forgets a password. Where is she now?

I saw a cool username not too long ago--a couple of months ago? It was kind of irreverent, well really cool anyway. Unfortunately I can not remember what it was try as I may. I think it was about eight characters (all roman letters), think it was two syllables. And don't have time now to go look for it. I saw that person post just that once. Sorry.
If I think of it I'll come back here.

You could try "...." for fewest syllables or "____" for fewest strokes (remember, it has to be four characters). "^__^" might also work, if you're into that sort of stuff.

In a spirit of competitiveness I'm thinking of changing my name to 嗯【but then will someone try and suggest a character with less strokes like 一 outdoes that...depends on whether you go for verbal or character ]

Hi bababardwan
Yeah, I remember the name, which was a little difficult for me to type. It's just like a long German word, hehe.

oh right,I knew of Steely Dan and "ricky don't lose that number" but I didn't realise that was the title of that album.Still, good selection mate :)...still somehow seems very apt at CPod...as we try and make sense of it all, hehe

I wish there was some reasoned, convoluted logic for picking pretzellogic that made me sound as clever as simonpettersson said. Unfortunately, I have Donald Fagen, Walter Becker and some suspended chords to thank for this.

also agree an awesome name. How did you come up with it mate? It makes me think of the twists and turns of a pretzell and somehow there seems a link with Hanzi.

How about: mickeytoon

hehe, yeah,I like mickeytoon esp because an avatar is meant to be a reflection of one's character and he often stays true to form...a mixture of crablike tendencies and cartoon humour. Jiayou mickeytoon. :)

Should be any minute now. Yeah, mickeytoon is pretty brill, though much of it is thanks to his rockin' avatar.
