Jenny's a Covergirl!!!

July 05, 2008 at 02:47 AM posted in General DiscussionOK, so I'm in Shanghai for the weekend, and I pick up a copy of "That's Shanghai" at the hotel, and who is on the cover but our very own Jenny Zhu! (Looking lovely, by the way.) Great feature article on Jenny and Chinesepod. I was so excited. Now I know that I am definitely a C-pod "groupie"! (Cassie, there's another good slang word for you to learn.)

hi lordstanley! Jenny has really good taste :-) I shudder to think of what would be sitting on her shelf at home had the Pens fallen into a victory. *shudder*. lol.

What's up Jenny?
This article is just more proof that Chinesepod is the best Chinese language learning resource on the internet!

Bingge, be sure to go to Jennyzhu.com and check out the July 4 entry about what Jenny bought as a souvenir while in Toronto. I have a feeling you'll like it, as did I.

it wasnt geographical distance that bazza was referring to but he will find his true love. Then he will wonder why he wanted one :-)

Bazaa, I think you were just too late, not too far out of reach. It was timing not distance.

I think 23,457 light years is farther than London... heh. (And yeah, I keep forgetting your not in London.... what? Britain has other cities??? ;)

But given that over-protective guys like bazza are probably having more-than-casual thoughts about hiring ninjas to deal with our mysterious friend "Durian (Who Is Not Dashan)", why don't we give the lucky Canadian guy full rights to the code name?
If they've been together for 8 months, they're obviously happy, so he has my blessing.
Jenny has always 23,457.4 light years out of my league anyway. :P

Could we make another thread about the Durian (apart from this one or maybe Ask Amber two weeks ago) where we would put all our anecdotes on the FRUIT ?
Btw, nobody wants to create a group about cuisine ? That would be a good place for the durian discussion.

Hi buckaroo. I can see where you're coming from. I do like the name buckaroo; what woman wouldn't?
But given that over-protective guys like bazza are probably having more-than-casual thoughts about hiring ninjas to deal with our mysterious friend "Durian (Who Is Not Dashan)", why don't we give the lucky Canadian guy full rights to the code name?

Auntie, I suppose "Durian" would be a suitable code name for Jenny's boyfriend.
But hey, I have another suggestion. How about we use the code name "Buckaroo" instead when referring to Jenny's mysterious suitor? I think it has a nice ring to it.
(Besides -- I'm from Wisconsin which is practically the same thing as Canada, eh?)

A Canada-born guy whose name is Durian, who came to China to purchase inexpensive China-made hammers and is destined to be killed by a Japanese Ninja? It's tough to be Jenny's boyfriend!
auntie68
July 07, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Well, I was struck by the euphony between "Dashan" and "Durian" -- very pretty! --, and I thought that bazza and buckaroo would think it charming...
Besides, durians are thought to be an aphrodisiac.

I don't know...Durian... Auntie68, are you sure? Does it really "stink" that much if Jenny is happy? Ha!

Out of (nothing but) pure consideration for Jenny Zhu's many loyal (but heartbroken) would-be swains, I hereby move that Jenny Zhu's mysteriously unnamed Canadian Lucky Guy Who Is NOT Dashan be given the (very dashing) code-name "Durian " until such time as she shall see fit to reveal his name to us. How do you vote on this, gentlemen?

"PS My boyfriend is not Dashan". - thats funny.
Well, we have ruled out at least two - Dashan and Bazza. Watch out for the paparazzi now. Do they have such a thing in China?

Thank you guys!! It still feels a bit surreal. But the cover is another proof of the success of Cpod and Poddies play a central role in it. It's OUR cover.(JFK Miller, who wrote the article is a Poddie himself.) My parents asked me to translate the article word by word.
PS My boyfriend is not Dashan.

In fact looking at a map, I appear to be almost exactly midway between them.

And uh, looking now at Jennyzhu.ocm, one can see her increase of interest in Canada... hmm.... why could that be?? (just noticed she travelled to Canada recently... I've been out of touch)
And yeah, Bazza, time to move on... but STAY AWAY FROM MY FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK!! ;) Ha ha... just kidding (well, kind of, but don't test my territorial wolf instincts....whatever they are.... grrrrr....) Lots of such 华人 in London too... just gotta find their little organizations and get to know them... knowing Chinese DOES help.

Bazza, I guess when Jenny's biggest fan (you) got around to visiting your star, it must have gotten this guy seeing her now to 行动, ha ha.
I must admit... it does kind of kill a dream... (and makes me wish I was Canadian, heh). I'd be more likely to talk in Chinese, then Jenny could win the arguemnts... heh. But ouch, we are just "big brothers" to her...hmm....

Oh, how gorgeous!
It is interesting that Jenny works only part-time at CP with her being a (or THE) key figure, especially when you bear in mind how much effort must surely be put into production...Do they pay you enough, Jenny?

She is sitting in a "Pod" chair too. How appropriate.
Changye- have another beer. Make it two, this excuse is better than most, we need to celebrate.
I am a little bummed by the boyfriend thing however. Canadian? (dashan maybe :-) ). Good luck Jen, whoever he is, if he's smart, he wont let you get away.
