Hi Bazza
I will ask the technical staff to rename your group.

Please can you fix my English / Chinese / Polish group? Rename it to English - Chinese - Polish if possible, otherwise just delete it.

It's -2 now, looks like every time I edit music genre post it subtracts another one.

How come my group now says -1 posts on the main groups page? It's gone to the bottom of the most active list now. :P

bazza,
Yes, you're right... There's also the issue of group abuse by spammers, and we need to be careful of that.
kimiik,
We will look into that as well.

Cpod policy ?
If someone posts a thread or a comment with video or audio, what's the Cpod (Praxis) policy on copyright violation ?

I think it's better if new members are approved, because if you need to remove someone they won't be able to join again. It would helpful if moderators could also managed members or at least approve new ones.

We're planning on changing the avatar that shows up on the Community page from the posting user's avatar to the group avatar.
In addition, when you go to that post, there should also be some indication that it's part of a group.
On another note, should public groups require approval of new members?

43 minutes agoTo come back to the stick/broom thing...I can´t imagine our sweet little cassie swinging a big stick above her head and hitting someone...but it´s not hard to imagine her mom standing before her doing that with a broom in the given context ;-)
I'm not sure she'd need a stick. ;)

@ 甜芳 the "Freudian connotation" in this context becomes clear if you know that a mans sexual organ which shall not be named here... sometimes is called joystick etc. ...I better stop here...I guess the explanation attempt was illustrative enough...

Lostinasia & Bazza,
Yes, you're both right, and we are working on both issues already. Thanks!

I think we do with something that says "This post belongs to group: ......" and links back to the group.

Um... not sure if it's just me, but something has gone wrong with Clay's first post, because when I go to the Users Conversations page EVERY new post is indicated with "I'm so in &ndbs", and it says Clay is the most recent poster. It also gives the wrong number of posts, although the time of the most recent post is correct.
When I click through to the conversation, it's fine.
Something is messed up with the programming somewhere. This is true only for User Conversations; Lesson Conversations are fine.
I see this in both Firefox 3 and Safari.

Bazza,
In public groups, posts also show up on the Community page.
In private groups, you have to go into the group to see posts, and you can only do that if you're a member.

henning, guolanusa, and goulniky,
Goulniky's 88news posts will definitely be imported. This was a consideration throughout the Groups discussion, and we have certainly not forgotten about all of Goulniky's hard work.
We're still testing out the Groups and getting feedback for now.

I notice you can have a public or private group, not too sure what the difference is though.

I'll disagree with Kimiik. I see nothing wrong with the words "big stick" in this context. It's often said that attractive and popular girls will have to fight the boys off with a big stick. (Of course, we're assuming all boys have less than honorable intentions.)
An example: As the parent of a 12 year old girl, I'm concerned she will have to fight the boys off with a big stick.
There is a popular slogan from former US president Theodore Roosevelt about speaking softly, but carrying a big stick. It essentially means you need to be humble first, then stand up for your self and be ready to defend and take some more aggressive action.

Is this topic inside the group then? Are they not a member only type club?

auntie68, uncle changye and our poddies, have you ever heard about “相亲” before?
I hope our dear Amber can do a lesson about this “相亲”topic , I wonder what foreigners think about that.
About 相亲xiang1qin1, which means that your parents or your relatives introduce some good guys or girls that they think might suit for you, and then you choose one that you like and try to 交往(date first and then marry later)

what's the difference between Big Stick and Big Broom in this context?
Sometimes I can get the main idea from you guys' comments, but I don't understand some words' detail meanings.

Auntie,
In this context, I would use a word with a lighter Freudian connotation : BIG BROOM

oh, uncle changye, actually you remind me a good and interesting topic that I thought to post before.

oh, boran, yes, you should try to join.
changye, matchmaking service? are you kidding me?

June 24, 2008 at 12:28 PM
Uncle changye! Cassie doesn't need any "matchmaking" assistance, what she needs is a BIG STICK to swat away the small army of (surplus) great guys who admire her and would like to be her guy... especially the ones from her CPOD fanclub group.

Hi cassie,
My hunch tells me that the new feature would develop into a kind of matchmaking service. Join quickly!

Cassie, 很好的问题. I would like to know too. Other than identifying users with similar interests (which is a good idea), I'm not sure what new features are available to a group.
I suppose I could try joining the ChinesePod Inner Circle group to see what new features are available but I'm afraid I might not be cool enough to be accepted - I fear rejection!

Cool!
Will the contents from goulnik's 88news be transfered over to the new group section? That is one of my favourite supplemental resources.

July 04, 2008 at 10:45 AMHellooo...I noticed that you guys have changed the lesson page number listing format and it now goes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...106, 107. I'm not sure if this was in response to my email requesting easier navigation to old lessons, but it seems to have made it even more difficult (Adii, did you get my email?). From the latest lessons page, I can now only go back 2 pages at a time, clicking on the page number just before the dotted line and it takes me forever to find page 42, for example. Once I've done that, there is also no easy way to go to the next lesson or previous one, which is why I've also requested page arrows to take you from one lesson directly to the next or previous. Sorry for sounding so demanding....I love CPod, ánd I'll love it more if navigation is improved.
