An undeserved honour

February 03, 2008 at 06:19 PM posted in General DiscussionI see that I am top of the most active users list!!
This is pretty wierd as I have hardly posted anything for some time. But it's nice to be recognised

February 08, 2008 at 05:40 PMHenning, I agree...it is a sad day at CPod when you can't see Bazza's name on the list (much less at the top). CPod community, help us get Bazza back: Click here and post something...anything!

Bazza dropped off the list.
CPod, please get him back on there.
I am scared.

What´s bad about being a "CPod-nerd" ?
I think that title should become a honor like "the shameless selfpromoting user of the week" (vote for me!...) ;-)

goulniky,
I am complely out - probably silly comments on the last QW led the algorithm to a devaluation.
Anyway. Now I can post freely without the risk of being openly branded to "CPod-nerd".

goulniky, even more interesting...before my last post and your post, Mike had 86 points....now he has 85. So I guess our posts made him lose half a point each!

and I haven't said a word for 24 hours, which didn't stop me from gettting to the top?! Henning, Bazza please help rescue me!

Mike, you're slipping...here this will give you a few more points!
And I think you're right, the algorithm is screwed. Take cholee for example, with 49 points and only 2 posts. Interesting...

Sorry to say there is another possibility. The algorithm is screwed!

another possibility is they're giving user comments more weight than lesson comments, I seldom comment on those. Might also be using 中文 in comments

I'm guessing they've added a popularity factor to the MAU algorithm, reflecting how often a topic you initiated has been read, 88groups activity or some such.
Otherwise, I don't see how I could have crawled up close to the top without hardly writing any comment recently. Can't have anything to do with post length either in my case.

Well - I have just taken the plunge again and paid a year's premium subscription - only so as I can get the DVD of course.
Thank you wei1xiao4 - actually I really appreciated your encouragement.
So you are all stuck with me for another year, by which time I fully expect to be so good even 大山 will pay homage - all due to Chinesepod

Thanks guys - actually my 6 month's subscriptions is about to expire - so perhaps it is their way of buttering me up so I resubscribe!
The question is "Shall I continue to subscribe..........."?

The hardest thing for me is getting off the list, but a little effort and I should make it. ;)

They have ways of measuring your brain activity as your finger tips make contact with with the keys! Their algorithms even factor in time differences to allow for sleepiness.
You guys are the the most active, take a bow!

Mike,
I noticed I'm at number 2, but I don't know what I did to deserve it. I feel the same as you, why am I suddenly up so high? Maybe they just made more changes to the most active user list algorithm.

Mike,
Hopefully my post on your conversation will add to your greatness.

February 10, 2008 at 01:50 AMBazza seems to have some strange power over the software. After he added a comment to one of Henning's threads, it came up showing that the original was written by Bazza. After I added a comment, it reverted to Henning's authorship. No wonder Bazza's always near the top of the list :-)
No, actually, I've seen this happen before with people who don't make it to the top of the list, so there must be more to it. Go, Bazza, only a couple of slots to get back up there where you belong!
